Akazome (赤染) means "red-dyed." Akazome Emon (c. 956-c. 1041) was the Heian-period waka poet and prose author — traditionally credited as the author of the Eiga Monogatari ("A Tale of Flowering Fortunes"), the first chronicle in vernacular Japanese covering the Fujiwara regency period.
