Tsubaki (椿) is the Japanese word for "camellia" — the evergreen winter-flowering shrub. Camellia is the unofficial flower of Japanese refined femininity, central to the Kyoto aesthetic.
Shiseido's Tsubaki haircare brand is named after the camellia oil it uses.
