Vac (वाच्) is the Sanskrit word for "speech, voice, sacred utterance." The Vedic goddess of speech and language — celebrated in Rig Veda 10.125, the famous Devi-sukta, where she speaks in the first person as the cosmic principle of language that pervades all beings. Precursor to Saraswati.
